Easy Installation with the NuStair System!
At NuStair, it is our goal to make getting beautiful, hardwood stairs as easy and inexpensive as possible for our customers. That’s why we have spent years making sure our NuStair Refinishing System is so easy to install that even the casual weekend DIY-er can get a gorgeous refinished staircase in a weekend.
There’s no need to remove your old staircase, or cut into the substrate – Just install the NuStair treads over your existing wooden staircase. Here’s how:

Trim all your stair parts to size. The NuStair treads come in 36″, 42″, 48″, 60″, 70″, and 72″ to fit stairs of all sizes, but you will need to carefully measure your individual stairs and trim all your pieces accordingly.

Starting on the bottom stair, cover the first tread with a urethane-based adhesive. Install the tread on your first stair.

Bracing the bottom shim against the stair tread, install the first shim.

Install the first riser, putting the cut edge up and the factory edge against the stair tread.

Trim the tread to match up with the carpet or other flooring at the bottom of the stairs.

Repeat steps 2 through 4 until you have reached the top stair.

Trim the tread to match up with the carpet or other flooring at the top of the stairs.
